learn the basics of cyanotype printing. on the day, we will run through an intro of how the process works, then you will have time to make your own cyanotypes to take home. this class takes place rain or shine! when done indoors, we use my uv box, which functions as our “sunlight” for the day. More detailed information about the workshop and travel recommendations will be emailed out a week before the workshop date! If you sign up within the week, you should receive your email the day you sign up for the workshop.
time + location: 11-16:00 (Lunch break 13-14:00), broedplaats baggerbeest (Rudi van Dantzigstraat 1t, m 15, 1095PK, Amsterdam)
provided:
-prepped, unexposed cyanotype papers (3 A5, 2 A4) + cardboard + glass sheets for keeping materials for exposing on paper
-basic snacks (chips, nuts, cookies, tea + coffee)
-kettle + microwave for heating up lunch if you bring.
what you need to bring:
-materials for exposing! this can be anything from natural materials like flowers, dried peppers, fennel seeds, to random bits and bobs like lace, a necklace, and string. it’s good to have a general idea of what you’d like to make, but definitely bring extra stuff for experimentation!
-lunch! we will break for lunch from 13:00-14:00. you can feel free to bring your own, or go to one of the local cafes (I will provide a short list at your seat when you arrive).
-a good attitude and mind for experimentation! your first cyanotypes always turn out a bit differently than expected, but that’s the beauty of them.
