a quicker, more simplified version of the regular cyanotyping 101 workshop! learn the basics of cyanotype printing. during the workshop, we will run through an intro of how the process works, then you will have time to make your own cyanotypes to take home. this class takes place in the evening, and uses a uv lightbox in my studio space. More detailed information about the workshop and travel recommendations will be emailed out a week before the workshop date! If you sign up within the week, you should receive your email the day you sign up for the workshop.
time + location: 19:00-21:00 , broedplaats baggerbeest (Rudi van Dantzigstraat 1t, m 15, 1095PK, Amsterdam)
provided:
-prepped, unexposed cyanotype papers (1 A6 “test”, 1 A5, + 1 A4) + cardboard + glass sheets for keeping materials for exposing on paper
-basic snacks (chips, nuts, cookies, tea + coffee)
-kettle + microwave
what you need to bring:
(dinner is not provided, so please be prepared to either eat before or after the workshop. there will be snacks to tide everyone over, however!)
-materials for exposing! this can be anything from natural materials like flowers, dried peppers, fennel seeds, to random bits and bobs like lace, a necklace, and string. it’s good to have a general idea of what you’d like to make, but definitely bring extra stuff for experimentation! Note: natural materials (flowers, grass, etc) tend to give the best impressions when they are pressed (ie, flattened). Fresh (not dry) materials tend to leave the most detailed impressions, while dried natural materials give more of an abstract impression. I think it’s fun to bring a combination of both (dry and fresh) for testing to see the difference!
-a good attitude and mind for experimentation! your first cyanotypes always turn out a bit differently than expected, but that’s the beauty of them.
